FAQs
What is media training?
Media training is professional coaching that helps people communicate confidently and effectively with journalists and the public. At PLMR Genesis, our Impactful Communications Training is a hybrid training involving media training, as well as networking and public speaking skills, so you can excel at all communication opportunities for your business and deliver your key messages with impact.
Who is this training for?
This training is designed for business leaders, senior executives, spokespeople, and professionals at all levels who represent their organisation publicly or internally. It is particularly valuable for those who engage with the media, speak at events, lead teams, or regularly communicate with key stakeholders.
What’s the ideal group size for media training?
We are happy to deliver one to one training, or groups up to six to seven people.
Do participants need previous media experience or training?
No. Our training is suitable for both first-time spokespeople and experienced leaders. Sessions are tailored to individual confidence levels and experience, ensuring everyone gains practical, relevant skills.
Why is this different from standard media training?
Our programme goes beyond traditional media interviews. We focus on real-world communications challenges, from media interviews to boardroom presentations, public speaking, and networking. Training is fully bespoke and delivered by local PR professionals with national and regional media experience.
Is the training tailored to an individual business or sector?
Yes. All training is bespoke and designed around your organisation, sector, audience, and objectives. We take time to understand your business, the issues you face, and the situations you’re preparing for before creating your course and practical exercises on it.
How is the training delivered?
Ideally all training will be delivered in person in our Ipswich office, but we are open to exploring virtual online sessions if this is a preference for you.
Can media training help with crisis or sensitive issues?
Absolutely. We regularly support organisations preparing for high-stakes, sensitive, or reputationally challenging situations, helping spokespeople stay calm, credible, and in control of their message.
What outcomes can we expect from the training?
Participants typically leave with:
- On-camera interview experience through mock interview set-up
- Clear, structured key messages and how to communicate them with impact
- Improved presentation, interview and networking skills
- Stronger presence on camera and in person
- Practical tools they can use immediately
