In this webinar, PLMR’s Head of Public Affairs, Simon Darby, and Head of Liverpool, Niamh Mercer Danher, will explore how business leaders can perfect their ‘elevator pitch’ for Labour Party Conference 2025 and how to tailor this to the different audiences that will be in attendance this Autumn. Joined by Senior Account Manager Ben Farmer, the webinar will also cover how organisations can connect conference activity to their wider public affairs and media presence, as well as any final logistics for attendees to consider before the conference.
Reflecting on a decade of experience working in Parliament and attending party conferences alongside MPs, PLMR’s Associate Director Dominic Moffitt shares his insights on what Labour Party Conference is like for MP’s staff and advisers, including what matters to them, how to prepare, and what makes a conversation or event genuinely memorable. In conversation with PLMR’s Head of Public Affairs Simon Darby and Senior Account Manager Ben Farmer, this webinar will also cover how organisations can use party conferences to support their wider public affairs engagement and shape the national agenda.
In our latest webinar, PLMR’s Head of Public Affairs, Simon Darby, will chair a discussion with our team of experts – including Leon Emirali, Dominic Moffitt and Rebecca Langton, analysing the Government’s Comprehensive Spending Review. Over the course of the session, the group will dissect departmental budget changes, discuss what the review signals ahead of key events in the future, and explore how organisations should adjust their engagement strategies in response.
Gawain has been a leading adviser to Nigel Farage for more than two decades, first working with the Reform UK party leader when he was a UKIP MEP. Until earlier this year, Gawain was Reform UK’s Director of Communications. During this session, Gawain will share insights from his extensive experience working in politics, including practical advice on engaging effectively with Reform UK’s leadership and understanding the party’s key priorities and policy directions as they set their eyes on Number 10 ahead of the next General Election.
Linsey Farnsworth
Linsey has served as the Labour MP for Amber Valley since July 2024. With over two decades of experience as a criminal solicitor for the Crown Prosecution Service, Linsey brings a wealth of knowledge to her role as the Government’s Crime Mission Champion. In this event, Linsey will discuss the Government’s strategies to combat crime, both in our communities and online, including initiatives to tackle fraud and anti-social behaviour, and efforts to strengthen digital safety measures.
Planning reform, devolution, and ambitious housing targets: In Conversation with Florence Eshalomi MP
Florence has served as the Labour MP for Vauxhall and Camberwell Green (formerly Vauxhall) since 2019 and, prior to this, served as a member of the London Assembly for Lambeth and Southwark. Florence was elected as Chair of the Housing, Communities and Local Government Select Committee in September 2024. This event will see Florence talk through the important work of the Committee in a time when planning reform, housing targets, and local government overhaul are top of the Government’s agenda.
Shaping the Future of Higher Education: In Conversation with Adam Thompson MP
Adam has been the Labour MP for Erewash since July 2024 and serves as Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary University Group. With a strong background in higher education, Adam is working with the sector to identify long-term solutions to its challenges as well as celebrating its successes. In conversation with PLMR’s Senior Counsel, John Cope, Adam will discuss higher education policy in the years ahead and how to work most effectively with the Government, as well as taking questions from attendees.
In this workshop, PLMR’s Head of Public Affairs, Simon Darby, will be joined by Ann Kennedy, Director of Kennedy Events and former Head of Labour Exhibitions. The event will cover why party conferences are a great opportunity for engagement, the options for making an impact at party conference at all budgets, the value of hosting an event or exhibition, and how to connect with key policymakers and industry leaders. Ann will also share her insights on event planning and execution, as well as on wider marketing and branding for conference.
Darren will join the PLMR team to share his views on the current political landscape and what we can expect from the year ahead. This event will also see PLMR launch our new report, ‘Adapting to the new normal: A time of greater stability of UK politics?’, looking at the key challenges for the new Government and opposition parties.
Olivia has been the Labour MP for Reading West and Mid Berkshire since July 2024. This event will be an opportunity to hear from Olivia on the Government’s upcoming priorities and what role the Government’s “missions” will continue to play in the future of delivery. Her focus areas include growth, youth engagement, and tackling economic inactivity.
Sarah has been the Labour MP for Hyndburn since July 2024 and serves as the Government’s Opportunity Mission Champion. Her focus is on expanding access to skills, employment, and education to improve social mobility. In this session, Sarah will explore how the Government plans to break down barriers, enhance social mobility, and create pathways to opportunity for individuals and businesses across the UK.
Adam is a veteran broadcast journalist and pioneer of live news analysis, with a distinguished career at Sky News from its launch until 2021. This event will see Adam share his experience working at Sky News and Times Radio, as well as insights into broadcast media itself: how it works, why it’s so influential, and its continued relevance in 2025.
