Following difficult devolved and local elections for the Labour Government, and with an ongoing challenge to Keir Starmer’s leadership, we are delighted to relaunch Labour Tribes Mapped.
We launched the original tool in July 2025, with a significant update in November. Everything we said then still applies: the complex network of relationships, factions, and affiliations within today’s Parliamentary Labour Party continues to shape how this government functions. Those dynamics matter not only to the Labour Party itself, but to the country as a whole, as the future of the Prime Minister remains closely tied to them.
Our new version of Labour Tribes Mapped has been updated and developed to be more useful than ever:
- New and improved functionality, allowing users to search MPs and view key information at a glance
- A refreshed interface, with bespoke software designed to better reveal connections between MPs and groupings
- “More MPs like this” functionality, showing which MPs have the most similar Tribal profiles
- Monthly updates to ensure the tool reflects political developments as they happen
- Regular updates tracking the unfolding leadership challenge against Keir Starmer
PLMR is delighted to partner with LabourList once again on this exclusive project, helping bring new insight into the make-up of the Parliamentary Labour Party and offering greater clarity to those seeking to understand Labour’s internal dynamics.
This tool represents a significant advance in the ability to engage effectively with the Parliamentary Labour Party. By systematically mapping MPs’ affiliations, including informal and often opaque groupings, and analysing voting behaviour on contentious issues such as welfare reform and assisted dying, the platform provides a level of political intelligence that is both rare and invaluable.
The integration of key data points, spanning electoral majority and regional representation to ministerial appointments and union ties, enables more targeted and strategic engagement. With Labour more fractured than ever in this parliament, this resource will be essential for informed and effective advocacy.
