Mark is the former Board Executive for Healthtech at The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). Mark initially trained as a clinical physiologist and worked for 10 years within the UK NHS Tertiary Cardiac Care, with a specialist interest in complex cardiac devices. This is where his passion for all things Healthtech and patient access was born.
Moving into Industry in 2001, Mark has held various clinical, commercial and policy roles. Prior to Joining NICE in 2022, Mark was the Director of Health Economics and Commissioning for UK & Ireland at Medtronic.
In parallel, Mark has held many roles that champion the value of Healthtech for patients, inward investment and research and development. Including committee membership of the NICE technology appraisal programme, membership of External Advisory Boards for the Engineering and Physical Research Council (EPSRC), numerous NHS England Task and Finish groups and policy advisory work for Office for Life Science. He also continues to mentor NHS Innovators via the NHS Mentor Programme.
