The Situation

The Rushmoor Development Partnership, a joint venture between Rushmoor Borough Council and Hill Investment Partnership, appointed Snapdragon at PLMR to ensure widespread participation in the consultation on plans to regenerate several sites in the area, as well as provide strategic communications advice and support.

What we did

Work commenced on the first project in November 2019, with the launch of an engaging website that catered to both English speakers and the large Nepali community in Rushmoor. Members of the project team also hosted a stall at the Aldershot Community Christmas Festival, with arts and crafts available for local children, encouraging many people to come over and talk to the team about the upcoming consultation, and take away information.

A comprehensive approach included an engaging website, community events, and an online consultation. Over 1,200 people participated, and 86% of responses were received online.

The Result

The scheme was approved unanimously by members of Rushmoor Borough Council’s Development Management Committee, who were able to see the large numbers of support for the project, through an increased consultation process. We have since worked on subsequent projects with the RDP.
