A life-changing legacy

A pair of volunteers that met while supporting Coventry’s City of Culture celebrations will tie the knot on Thursday, August 25.

Ian Oakley and Jayne Townley are set to get married and have their wedding blessed at the Assembly Festival Garden – the place they met for the first time while volunteering as City Hosts. They welcomed visitors to the city and assisted audiences across more than 270 shifts throughout the City of Culture year.
Advent secured online, radio and TV coverage in the build up to the big day, ahead of Assembly Festival Garden’s final weekend in the city.

Jayne said: “I signed up to be a City Host to make friends in Coventry but I never expected this to happen… we are so grateful for all the support that we’ve had from so many people. It’s going to be a real celebration not just of our marriage but Coventry’s year as UK City of Culture and the Assembly Festival Garden being here.”
