The pandemic has been an extraordinary period in everyone’s working lives but there have been some silver linings, including for many people, the experience of remote working.
Many of us have enjoyed the improved work-life balance, greater flexibility and reduced travel. We have also found that working virtually has actually increased our contact with clients through regular video calls rather than feeling the need to travel to meet in person. At the same time, it’s been a good move in further reducing our carbon footprint.
So after a whole-team discussion, we collectively decided to take the plunge and adopt the ‘new normal’ by down-sizing our office space, with the majority of the team opting to work from home on a permanent basis.
We now have 14 of the team working from home and four working in our new smaller office which has space for hot desking (once Covid-19 allows), a small meeting room, kitchenette and on-site parking. There are also great views of the river and marina and there’s space for larger meetings in the yacht club next door.
Penny Arbuthnot, Director at Genesis PR, said: “The move into a smaller office has suited the team’s new way of working perfectly, giving a modern space tor those team members who prefer an office environment, as well as flexibility for the future.
“Time will tell but we’re confident that this is a step in the right direction for Genesis, our team and our clients.”
