Regional PR and communications agency Genesis has been shortlisted for the national title of Outstanding Small Public Relations Consultancy of the Year at the 2019 Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Excellence Awards. Genesis is the only agency from the East of England in the category.

The agency, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, has also been shortlisted for Public Affairs Campaign of the Year, for its central government lobbying work.

The CIPR Excellence Awards reward best practice in public relations, with the category for Outstanding Small Public Relations Consultancy recognising the achievements, performance and excellent work of consultancies with an annual fee income of less than £1 million. The category is judged on performance over a three-year period.

The nominations follow a year in which Genesis won five awards at the 2018 CIPR Anglia, Thames, and Chiltern Regional Awards and was listed in the top 40 PR agencies outside London by national media title PR Week.

Penny Arbuthnot, director at Genesis, said: “We’re overjoyed to have made it to the finals, competing against other global and London-based PR agencies. Our whole team work tirelessly for our clients so credit must go to them.”

Competing agencies will go head to head for awards in 31 categories at the 2019 CIPR Excellence Awards, which are the sector’s longest-running and most rigorous awards scheme. Shortlisted entrants are put through their paces by expert category judges, with the winners announced at a black-tie event attended by over 1,000 PR professionals on Tuesday 25 June in London.

Genesis works with clients across a variety of sectors, delivering strategic, integrated marketing communications through PR, social media, SEO and digital marketing, as well as other services.
