The Situation

UKREiiF is a key moment for regions and investment bodies to showcase development opportunities and attract inward investment. The West Midlands Growth Company (WMGC) and We Are Staffordshire both sought to maximise their presence around the event, using it as a launchpad for major initiatives.

For WMGC, this centred on the launch of Site Selection WM, a digital platform promoting investible development sites across the region. For We Are Staffordshire, the focus was the launch of Invest Staffordshire, a new inward investment vehicle designed to drive growth. As part of our work together, we were also focused on supporting local authorities and partners across Staffordshire to elevate and amplify their strategic impact and reach during this important period.

Both streams of work required a coordinated communications strategy to cut through during a competitive media moment and extend impact beyond the event itself.

What we did

PLMR delivered integrated communications campaigns combining PR, media relations, stakeholder engagement and digital support.

For WMGC, we led the launch communications for Site Selection WM, securing coverage across regional and national trade media including BBC News, Estates Gazette and Business Live. We supported this with by-lined blogs, social media content, stakeholder briefings and thematic pitching focused on the region’s growth ambitions. This approach secured a high-profile Property Week interview for the Mayor of the West Midlands, reinforcing the region’s investment narrative.

For We Are Staffordshire, we delivered a targeted press strategy around the launch of Invest Staffordshire, securing coverage in a range of local, regional and trade publications such as Insider Media and Express & Star, as well as supporting regional partners land local and regional trade media, such as for Central Edge, a project involving City of Wolverhampton Council, South Staffordshire Council, and Staffordshire County Council, which hit key Built Environment sector trade publications such as City AM, Estates Gazette, and LocalGov, and the Spode announcement by Stoke-on-Trent City Council which landed well including securing coverage with CoStar, Estates Gazette, Green Street News and BE News.

The Result

PLMR’s strategic support ensured both clients maximised their visibility at UKREiiF and translated event activity into sustained media momentum.

The launches of Site Selection WM and Invest Staffordshire achieved strong, multi-tier coverage and strengthened regional investment narratives, positioning the West Midlands and Staffordshire as ambitious, investible destinations for growth, which was amplified further through local partner project profiling.
