FIND – Families in Need

How PLMR Genesis helped FIND with PR and their fundraising strategy

Client

FIND - Families in Need

The Situation

When PLMR Genesis invited charities to apply for our Charity of the Year pro bono support in 2017 we chose Families in Need (FIND) because of their urgent need to find and fund a new premises to run the local food bank and other services, for which there was growing need.

For nearly 30 years, FIND has offered a lifeline to people in Ipswich and the surrounding areas who are experiencing poverty and despair. Founder Maureen Reynel MBE needed a PR and fundraising strategy to help the charity and its 100 or more volunteers meet current and future needs.

What we did

We created the FIND 50 Lifeline Appeal for £100,000 to fund a bigger foodbank and be the charity’s new home. We enlisted local dignitaries and business leaders to support the campaign and created a website, video, leaflets and regular PR stories.

The Result

The high profile gained for the Appeal helped galvanised businesses, schools, individual donors, the building trade and wider community, with over £76,000 raised to date and an army of construction firms are providing free consultancy or services at cost. Work started on FIND’s new home in May 2019.
