The Situation

Stratford-on-Avon District Council, Coventry and Warwickshire Growth Hub and the University of Warwick organised its inaugural Driving Innovation & Growth Summit for innovative high-growth businesses to showcase Stratford District’s manufacturing talents in automation, AI, electrification, agri-tech, and the digital and creative sector.

PLMR Advent was appointed to help to organise the logistics of the event as well as promote the Summit to key businesses to showcase and establish Stratford District, as part of a wider South Warwickshire sub-region, as one of the best places in the UK to start, grow, and develop innovative and high-growth businesses.

What we did

PLMR Advent sourced three keynote speakers to share their expertise and plans for growth as well as wrote blogs to create anticipation in the build-up along with press releases which were posted on the social media accounts of Stratford-on-Avon District Council, Coventry and Warwickshire Growth Hub and the University of Warwick.

We also helped to organise, source and wrote briefing notes for three themed break-out sessions and invited Sir Jeremy Wright KC MP for Kenilworth and Southam to close the Summit.

PLMR Advent created the brand identity; sourced the design and print of roller banners; wrote the invitation letters; organised and briefed the facilitator; and organised and attended a rehearsal with the AV supplier.

PLMR Advent was responsible for all social media activity on the day which involved live Tweets on the social media accounts of Stratford-on-Avon District Council and Coventry and Warwickshire Growth Hub.

We also interviewed key representatives from each of the three organisations who hosted the event for a post-event video and organised for a photographer to capture the day.

The Result

The response from around 70 businesses who attended the first Driving Innovation & Growth Summit was positive and the post-event PR and video was well received in the media.

One of the key outcomes was businesses wanting to know more about scaling up their businesses which led to PLMR Advent helping to organise a follow-up round table event alongside Stratford-on-Avon District Council, Coventry and Warwickshire Growth Hub and the University of Warwick.

This smaller event was to encourage more innovative and high-growth businesses to thrive in South Warwickshire which was led by one of the Summit’s breakout session leaders – Irene Graham OBE, CEO of the ScaleUp Institute.

Around 20 ground-breaking businesses were invited to the roundtable in Stratford-upon-Avon to address the issues surrounding scaling up including such as access to finance, skills and developing clusters.
