Kevin is an expert in political communications, crisis management, and corporate communications. He started PLMR in 2006 and it’s now one of the UK’s Top 40 and the World’s Top 250 communications firms. He chairs the PLMR Board and works on key PLMR clients.
A fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and Institute of Directors, Kevin is one of the UK’s top public affairs, public relations and crisis management experts with 25 years of experience since his first paid comms role in 1993/ 1994. Experience includes time spent at Saatchi and Saatchi’s PR Arm, global law firm DLA Piper where he was a founding member of its Lobbying and PR practice, seventeen years as an elected politician in London local government including three as Chair of the London Borough of Lambeth’s Planning Committee, being a Member of Labour’s 2001 General Election Communications Team and also a Parliamentary Candidate in the 2005 British General Election.
Winner of the 2011 Public Affairs Consultant of the Year from Public Affairs News, Kevin is a sought-after commentator, appearing on national and international media including Al Jazeera, Sky News, the BBC, GB News and Reuters and the Financial Times to comment on political, economic, social and environmental issues of the day. He has an excellent cross-party network of contacts and has worked across a number of PLMR’s key sectors including education, health and social care, energy and planning. He has been mentioned twice in the British Parliament for his campaigning work in Suffolk and London.
Kevin led PLMR’s Team to success in international awards with two Gold Lions in the PR and Public Affairs categories at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. He was a judge in the 2015/ 2016 PR Week Awards and was also a Judge for both the 2013/ 2014 Cannes Lions, Public Affairs News Awards in 2013, PR Week Awards 2019, having previously served as a Judge at the Public Affairs News Awards 2012.
Kevin’s experience includes advising on billions of pounds worth of transactions and he was also a Non-Executive Director of AIM listed Elecosoft Plc, a global technology software business. In addition to private sector work, Kevin has advised a host of not for profit and charitable organisations. He was a Non-Executive Director of Community Shop, served 10 years as a School and College Governor and was a Trustee of the Charity Elizabeth’s Legacy of Hope by whom he was nominated to carry the Olympic Torch on the eve of the London 2012 Olympics.
Having grown up on a South London Council estate as the son of Irish immigrants who came to London in the 1960’s, Kevin has insisted that philanthropy and corporate social responsibility have been at the core of PLMR’s values since day one overseeing over £250,000 of charitable donations by the business since 2006 and the winning of accolades for this from Third Sector magazine.
Kevin speaks French, basic Spanish and holds dual British Irish citizenship. Outside of work interests include his family, fitness, football, politics, live music and sports and literature.
