PLMR’s Week Ahead in Westminster:15 January 2016

Is debating Donald Trump an effective use of MPs' time?

Over the last year or so, few people in popular culture have caused as much controversy as Donald Trump. The potential presidential candidate has caused such a stir here in the UK that there is even a petition calling for him to be banned from entering the country.

This petition has now reached around 600,000 signatures and will even be debated in the House of Commons on Monday 18th January.

With this in mind, in this podcast we ask whether debating this petition is an effective use of MPs’ time? To answer this question we speak to Lauren Fedor, the chief reporter at CityAM, and Chris Terry, an electoral reform campaigner, speaking here in a personal capacity.

PLMR’s Senior Counsel, Leon Emirali, joins ITV’s Good Morning Britain to discuss whether the country should head to the polls in a General Election when a new Prime Minister takes over.
