PLMR strengthens East of England team with senior appointment and promotion

Leading communications agency PLMR has appointed PR and marketing professional and former TV producer Deborah Burley as an Account Director in its East of England team, PLMR Genesis, and promoted Chloe Shelcott to Senior Account Director.

Deborah, who lives in Suffolk, began her career in television where she spent ten years working on the development and production of several award-winning and nominated shows, including Educating Yorkshire and Comic Relief’s Famous Rich and Hungry documentary series.

Her experience also includes creating high impact content for national brands including Toyota, BBC, Channel 4 and LADbible. In her most recent role, she led major student recruitment initiatives as Marketing Business Partner at the University of Suffolk.

Based in PLMR Genesis’ office in the heart of Ipswich, Deborah will work with both local and national organisations to deliver PR, media relations and media training.

Following her appointment, Deborah said: “I’m thrilled to be joining PLMR Genesis at an exciting time for the business. There’s a fantastic mix of clients here, and I’m looking forward to working with them, and future clients, to tell their stories, engage their audiences, and deliver real results.”

PLMR has also announced the promotion of Chloe Shelcott in the PLMR Genesis team to Senior Account Director. Chloe joined the agency 12 years ago and has built a hugely successful career, specialising in media relations and crisis comms, and working with clients such as David Lloyd and the Suffolk Show.

Chloe’s promotion is part of PLMR’s continued commitment to investing in its people and the region, alongside it’s substantial pro bono work with local charities and good causes.

Chloe said: “I’m incredibly proud to be stepping into the role of Senior Account Director after 12 years with PLMR Genesis. It’s been a privilege to see the company grow and evolve over the years, and I’m excited to support the next chapter of our journey in this new role.”

The appointment and promotion come at an exciting time of growth and investment, with PLMR rising 20 places on the latest 2025 PRovoke global rankings of PR agencies.

Tim Miller, who leads the PLMR Genesis team in the East of England, commented: “Deborah brings a wealth of experience to the team with her background in TV production and communications, and she has already made a big impact. The broadcast and media landscape has changed significantly, and her direct experience will be invaluable to our clients. We’re very excited to have her on board.

“Chloe’s promotion to Senior Account Director is another important milestone. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Chloe for 10 years. Her expertise, combined with a genuine passion and care for her clients and the wider team, has seen her become one of the leading consultants in the region.

“Deborah’s appointment and Chloe’s promotion will enable us to bolster our unique offer of local knowledge and insights, combined with national expertise and reach through PLMR.”
