“This is a tribute to my dad” – son of Donegal Immigrants Backs Grassroots Gaelic Games through PLMR’s Sponsorship of Dulwich Harps Youth Team

Leading communications agency, PLMR, has announced it has become the lead shirt sponsor of the Dulwich Harps Gaelic Football Youth Team, reinforcing its commitment to supporting community initiatives in London and around the UK.

The Dulwich Harps youth programme, launched in March 2024, has already attracted over 50 young players aged 5 to 17 in its first season. Entirely volunteer-led and based in the Peckham and Dulwich area, the team provides a vital community asset that promotes physical activity, teamwork and social wellbeing.

PLMR, which was founded in 2006 by Kevin Craig,  the son of Irish immigrants from Donegal has funded a new set of training jerseys branded with the PLMR logo and will be contributing to essential equipment and coaching costs and support the club’s promotional and fundraising activities.

As part of the partnership, PLMR will also be featured on the club’s social media platforms and at all youth matches and events throughout 2025.

Kevin Craig, Founder and CEO of PLMR, said:

“We are thrilled to support Dulwich Harps and the remarkable work they are doing to bring Gaelic games to young people in South London. As the proud son of Irish immigrants, I know the important role Gaelic football plays in Irish culture, and the Dulwich Harps youth programme promotes fitness and confidence and also builds lasting friendships and community spirit. GAA is becoming a powerful force for inclusion, health and youth engagement across the UK.

“On a personal level, this sponsorship means a great deal to me. Gaelic football was very important to my dad, Seamus, who played in his youth in Ardara in County Donegal. I shared many special days watching the matches with him. He’s no longer with us, but I know he would have loved the fact that PLMR is now supporting the next generation of GAA players. This is a tribute to him.”

Maureen Friel , Coach and Children’s Officer at Dulwich Harps, added:

“PLMR’s generous support is a huge boost for our youth team. It helps us create a fun, safe, and inclusive environment where young people can thrive. We are excited for the season ahead and grateful for this partnership, which will make a real difference.”

The sponsorship comes at a time of unprecedented growth for the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) in Britain:

  • Over 4,593 children are actively participating in GAA activities across Britain – a 28% increase over four years.
  • In London alone, youth participation has surged by 20%, reaching nearly 1,975 players.
  • 50 clubs across Britain now run underage teams, including 14 of the 27 clubs in London.
  • Major events such as the All-Britain Competition (ABC)  – where Dulwich Harps will play this year – attracted around 4,000 children and 350 teams in 2024, making it one of Britain’s largest youth Gaelic sports festivals.
  • The sport is expanding beyond its Irish roots, drawing young people from a wide range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
