PLMR Group Media Snapshot: November 2024

November was a busy month for the UK, with the marking of Remembrance Day, the first snowfall of the season, Kemi Badenoch winning the Conservative Party leadership election and the Welsh Labour Conference taking place. More widely, there were also much anticipated elections in the US and Ireland.

PLMR Group also had a chocker-block month, delivering workshops at the Institute of School Business Leadership Conference and the Confederation of School Trusts’ Conference; attending the Welsh Labour Conference; PLMR’s senior leaders and counsellors being interviewed by Sky News and GBN News on topical issues including reactions to the Budget and the US elections; attending the Building the Future Awards, celebrating being a finalist at the National Care Awards and rejoicing for our colleague Sam Pugh, Account Director at PLMR, who won the Young Achiever Award at the CorpComms Awards!

Alongside this, we continued to place a variety of strong national, broadcast, trade and regional stories for our clients, with everything from celebrating World War Two veterans, to the reopening of a stylish hotel and delivering The Social Worker of the Year Awards!

Read on to find out more about some of our media highlights for November 2024…

BBC: Plans submitted for former market site

Client: ECF

Sector: Built Environment

City of Wolverhampton Council and ECF – a partnership between Homes England, Legal & General, and Muse – submitted a hybrid planning application for City Centre West in Wolverhampton.

With this application being the first step in delivering the largest regeneration opportunity in the city, we helped make a big splash with the announcement and highlight the key details of the exciting plans – with phase one set to deliver 330 new high-quality homes, as well as retail opportunities on disused land, alongside plans for the remaining phases of the masterplan which could eventually deliver 1,000 new homes, including affordable homes, shops, cafes, restaurants, and expansive public realm and green space areas.

We achieved a range of trade and regional coverage including in Property Week, Birmingham Mail and BBC News.

Care Talk: ‘New data reveals over 1 in 5 care seekers unsure who will pay for care as costs continue to rise’

Client: carehome.co.uk

Sector: Social Care

carehome.co.uk is a care home reviews website, with more than 300,000 reviews on the site, allowing residents and their families to rate care homes in a bid to make finding the right home easier for care seekers. PLMR works closely with carehome.co.uk to raise its profile as the leading care home review website in the industry.

Drawing on carehome.co.uk’s expertise in the social care sector, PLMR and carehome.co.uk worked together to analyse internal data from care enquiries made on the website. PLMR focused on the scale of uncertainty around elderly care funding, as costs continue to rise, and highlighted the regional disparity among self-funders in the UK.

The press release was published in leading sector publications Care Talk, The Carer, and Care Home Professional, further raising carehome.co.uk’s profile within the care sector.

FE Week: A construction boom will depend on more than just technical skills

Client: Skills Builder Partnership

Sector: Education and Skills

Skills Builder Partnership is a social enterprise which works to support more than 1000 employers, educators and impact organisations to build the essential skills they need to succeed.
As part of our work together, the PLMR team pitched and drafted an op-ed which highlighted Skills Builder’s expertise in how the construction industry can support national ambitions around growth and productivity. This was placed in FE Week – a key trade outlet for the client – where Chief Executive, Tom Ravenscroft, explored the importance of embedding considerations for essential skills in staff development within the construction industry to support these ambitions. The piece explores how Skills Builder worked with Amey, an infrastructure company, and Morgan Sindall Infrastructure to support them to embed essential skills into their recruitment and staff development processes through the Skills Builder Universal Framework.
This coverage has also since led to positive commentary in both construction and skills circles, with coverage on an array of social platforms, helping to bolster Skills Builder Partnership as a thought leader in this increasingly topical area.

BBC: 'We always had cake after the sirens stopped'

Client: Signature Senior Lifestyle

Sector: Care

Signature Senior Lifestyle is a luxury care home provider. It operates 10 care homes across London, Surrey, Berkshire and Hertfordshire, offering assisted living, nursing and dementia care.
To support them in elevating their profile, we inquired about any veteran residents or residents with memories of World War Two, who would be interested in sharing their stories for national radio, TV or web publication ahead of Remembrance Day.
We then complied a list of interested homes and pitched their stories to regional and national media outlets – shortly thereafter we received interest from a Berkshire-based BBC journalist who wanted to visit Signature at Caversham and interview three residents of the home, who all had vivid accounts of their experiences. This successfully resulted in an online feature and radio segment.
