The PLMR Group is delighted to announce the UK Community Foundations, a major national grant-giving organisation, as its inaugural ‘charity of the year’.
Over the next year, colleagues from cross the Group will be supporting the work of regional Community Foundations and charitable activities across London, the Midlands and the East of England, reflecting PLMR’s office locations.
UK Community Foundations has been serving communities across the UK since 1975, and today has 47 accredited Community Foundations which delivered over £170 million in grants in the last year alone. By providing grants to regional charities that have a deep understanding of the needs of people in their local communities, the Foundations can bring people together to make a positive difference through place-based philanthropy.
Headquartered in Westminster with offices across the UK, PLMR has a long history of charitable activity, donating five per cent of net profits to philanthropic causes every year. This is a tradition that started when the business was founded in 2006, and more than £350,000 has been donated to date.
As part of the partnership with the UK Community Foundations, PLMR has pledged an initial £10,000 which will fund projects across our three chosen regional Community Foundations. Colleagues from offices around the UK will also be undertaking fundraising activities and volunteering their time throughout the year.
PLMR’s focus across each region will be working with local charities and organisations which support young people through the Community Foundations, including London-based charity Settle which helps young people who are leaving care to transition into living independently.
Announcing the partnership, Patrick Cousens, Board Director and CSR lead at PLMR said:
“We are thrilled to announce the UK Community Foundations as the PLMR Group’s inaugural charity of the year. At PLMR, our purpose is to make a positive and sustainable impact for our clients, our people and society, and the work of UK Community Foundations perfectly encapsulates our mission.
“We have been proud to support the local Community Foundations in our Heart of England and Suffolk offices for a number of years, and are delighted to be expanding this valued partnership. Over the next year, colleagues across the PLMR Group are looking forward to raising money and giving their time to the Community Foundations’ vital funds, with the ambition of helping young people across the UK to thrive.”
Hannah Bloom, Director of Philanthropy and Engagement at Suffolk Community Foundation, said:
“Often voluntary grassroots organisations who are delivering very local projects, have a significant positive impact on their community. With 87% of charities in Suffolk having an income of less than £100,000, our role is to support them where possible with much-needed funding towards their work. This is why we are delighted to be supported by PLMR Genesis and are very grateful for their support.”
Tina Costello OBE, Chief Executive of the Heart of England Community Foundation, said: “We’ve known the team at PLMR for many years and we are absolutely delighted to be working with them in this way. The fact they cover the whole of the West Midlands and Warwickshire reflects our geography too and we can’t wait to see some of this money making a real difference in their local community.”
