PLMR Group Media Snapshot: September 2023

September 2023 has been a month of new beginnings with children returning to school and parliamentarians heading back to Westminster; the start of the Rugby World Cup with some of the greatest sporting nations making their way to France and of equal importance the Great British Bake Off and Strictly Come Dancing being back on our TV screens. Not to be outdone, PLMR Group has been busy onboarding new clients, continuing its impressive insight event series, and securing business critical wins for organisations.

Amongst all this, PLMR Group’s PR experts have been supporting clients to achieve splashes in national media, landing engaging news stories in local and regional press, and crafting impactful thought-led articles across target trades. It’s always a hard task to select only five top media highlights for the month when there are hundreds to choose from, but take a look at some of our best for September:

The Times: This Georgian manor house with a secret underground tunnel is on sale for £3.4m

Team: PLMR Advent

Sector: Property

PLMR Advent achieved a double page spread and online coverage in The Times on the sale of Mayfield Hall, a stunning Derbyshire mansion being marketed by client Fisher German.

PLMR Advent pitched the stunning property to The Times and set up an interview between Deputy Property Editor David Byers and the vendor, which resulted in Mayfield Hall being named ‘Home of The Week’. This has since directly led to viewings of the property.

Client: myclimate

Team: PR and Corporate Comms

Sector: Sustainability

PLMR supported myclimate, an international climate protection organisation, to publicise their carbon tracker, and promote their message about the importance of reducing carbon emissions and travelling responsibly.

By analysing bespoke polling data, and drawing out the most headline grabbing details, PLMR generated a distinctive media hook and secured coverage as the lead item in The Mirror’s travel section, as well as media mentions in the Mail Online, and an additional Mirror article.

Client: County Broadband

Team: PLMR Genesis

Sector: Technology

PLMR Genesis supported client County Broadband, an internet service provider building full fibre broadband networks in rural villages across the East of England, to raise its profile by securing strong regional coverage.

PLMR Genesis analysed the data from a national Ofcom report on broadband speeds to identify regional trends across the UK. The team then drafted and sold in the story with a statement from County Broadband across Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire. This achieved 16 pieces of coverage which included two local radio interviews.

Business Leader: Maximising impact with limited resources: Insights from UK Deaf Sport

Client: UK Deaf Sport

Team: PLMR Education

Sector: Sport

In a bid to raise the profile of UK Deaf Sport, PLMR identified an opportunity within Business Leader as part of its Charity Month feature. This included the chance to talk explicitly about what UK Deaf Sport does, what it’s achieved and what its plans are for 2024 – helping to spread the word about the organisation and gain exposure for its CEO, Joanne Cholerton.

Schools Week: Three ways one simple survey is improving our PSHE provision

Client: Ipsos

Team: PLMR Education

Sector: Health and Education

As part of PLMR’s work with Ipsos which aims to raise awareness of and drive school engagement with NHS England’s 2023 Smoking, Drinking and Drug Use survey, PLMR secured and drafted an article for Schools Week which explored how one teacher is using the survey to form part of their data driven approach to PSHE and student welfare policy. The information for the article was gleaned through a case study call with the participant.

As a key objective is to increase the number of schools participating in the survey, Schools Week was a target publication for the client due its large audience of teachers and senior school leaders with the article demonstrating the benefits of participation in the survey for schools and students alike.
