PLMR outlines universities and their political influence in Times Higher Education

With the countdown on until the next general election, PLMR adviser and former education minister Anne Milton has outlined in Times Higher Education why now is a crucial time for universities to influence party manifestos and policies.

The election presents a critical opportunity for the UK’s universities to address the many challenges that threaten their stability and reputation. Key challenges the universities could look to work with policymakers on include student fees & funding, freedom of speech and student mental health.

Anne advises that persistence and patience are likely to be vital. Policy change does not happen overnight; indeed, it often takes weeks, months, even years for a new policy to be agreed, developed and delivered.
