Genesis puts one foot in front of the other for mental health charity

Suffolk-based PR, digital and marketing agency Genesis is embarking on a 100 miles in 24-hour walking challenge, plus a range of other fundraising activities to the end of 2021, in support of its charity of the year, Suffolk Mind.

Since January, Genesis has been supporting the award-winning mental health charity, with the marketing and crowdfunding promotion of its new children’s book ‘Sammy the Sea Squirt’, about improving mental wellbeing through physical activity.

Sammy the Sea Squirt is written by Suffolk Mind’s Head of Mental Health Education Ezra Hewing, illustrated by local artist Emma Graham, with the aim of donating the book to all Suffolk school children aged 4-5 years this September.

To help raise additional funds for Suffolk Mind, Genesis’ team of 19 is now collectively embarking on a walking challenge, covering 100 miles in 24 hours between them.

During October’s Mental Health Awareness Month, Genesis is also hosting a virtual quiz for clients, suppliers, business partners, family, and friends to boost the team’s fundraising efforts. The team has sweepstakes and bake sales planned throughout the remainder of the year.

Penny Arbuthnot, Director of Genesis, says: “Moving and getting out in the fresh air is something simple we can all do to support our well-being.

“As this is the theme of the brilliant ‘Sammy the Sea Squirt’ book project, we thought we’d take the 100 Miles for Suffolk Mind challenge and step it up a notch – completing the full 211,200 steps in one day.

“We are looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together for Suffolk Mind.”
