PLMR hires campaigner and activist Laura Coryton to its education practice

Award-winning integrated communications agency, PLMR, is excited to announce Laura Coryton as the latest addition to its growing education practice. Laura is an established campaigner and activist, best known for creating the global end ‘tampon tax’ campaign.

The campaign, which successfully changed UK law this year, garnered significant attention in the UK and abroad, with Laura invited to meet with Prime Minister Boris Johnson and interviewed across national media including The Guardian, BBC Breakfast, Huffington Post and The Washington Post. The movement is also set to influence legal changes in the European Union in 2022.

Laura also founded Sex Ed Matters, a social enterprise which supports the delivery of the new Relationship and Sex Education curriculum in schools across the UK. She is also the author of ‘Speak Up!’, a campaign guide for young adults.

Laura joins PLMR as an Account Manager, after working at Whitehouse Communications as part of its PR team. In this role, Laura joins the education practice where she will support a range of clients, including leading multi-academy trusts, world-renowned universities, edtech start-ups and national education charities, to achieve their objectives.

Laura Coryton, Account Manager at PLMR, said:

“I’m so delighted to be joining PLMR at what is a crucial time for the education sector as it continues to support children and young people to fulfil their potential as the country emerges from the pandemic.

“PLMR is an agency I have long admired, and I look forward to helping their exciting range of educational clients thrive in the months and years to come.”

Ollie Lane, Managing Director and Head of Education at PLMR, said:

“Our market-leading education practice is rapidly growing as more organisations approach us for support. Welcoming Laura means we can provide even greater expert consultancy. Laura has a track record of influencing policy at a time when shaping government initiatives has never been more important for our clients.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Laura to PLMR and look forward to her bringing her extensive political campaigning and media experience to the team.”
