It’s fitting that while many of us enjoyed one of the warmest Junes on record, the battle for health funding finally reached boiling point. The then-health secretary Jeremy Hunt won through, securing the NHS a 70th birthday present of an additional £20 billion a year. However, he now won’t be around to spend it, after becoming foreign secretary in the early July emergency reshuffle.
