Genesis PR director Penny Arbuthnot and account director Jacqueline French have taken the plunge at this year’s Great East Swim, raising over £200 for Macmillan Cancer Support, the event’s official charity partner. The pair joined over 2,000 swimmers as they tackled the open water challenge at Alton Water reservoir near Ipswich on Saturday 18th June.
Jacqueline swam the one mile course in open water for the first time, with husband Matthew, whilst this was the fourth year for Penny who achieved a personal best of 47 minutes.
Penny Arbuthnot, director at Genesis PR, said: “We were thrilled to take part in the Great East Swim which is a brilliant event for Suffolk. There’s always a fabulous atmosphere and it was great to see so many people taking part and spectators enjoying the day too.”
The Great East Swim is one of the biggest open water swim events in the UK attracting thousands of swimmers from novices to Olympic champions.
