The UK General Election - 4th July 2024

As the 2010 winner of the Business Charity Award for Social Investment, PLMR is known across the sector as the PR and public affairs agency with an ethical edge. In December 2012, the company invited each employee to make their own individual donation to a charity of their choice – on behalf of PLMR.

Recently, however, members of staff have taken this ethos one step further.

PLMR’s Rebecca Newsom is Chair of Trustees for Elizabeth’s Legacy of Hope (ELoH), a charity which supports vulnerable amputees across the world by providing low-cost prosthetics as well as educational, social and psychological assistance. Last month, after a recent visit to visit some of ELoH’s projects and beneficiaries in Sierra Leone, Rebecca heard about the tragic case of Abdul Sesay – a school boy who fractured his leg whilst playing football.  His family could not afford the medical costs and had been attempting to treat the injury with herbal medicines.

Abdul was at risk of losing his leg, and perhaps his life, all for the sake of a £300 medical bill.  ELoH decided that the charity would help Abdul.

Moved by this story, and recognising the urgency of Abdul’s circumstances, PLMR team members Tim Knight and Anokhi Madhavji decided to split the medical cost between them and make a special donation to ELoH.  As a direct result of this, Abdul received the life-changing support he deserved, and is now back on his feet again.

Each year, PLMR is proud to donate 5% of net profits to charity.

Well done, Anokhi and Tim!
