We’re on the hunt for a strong and confident PR Account Manager. Someone who has built relationships with journalists, is confident selling-in stories to the media and enjoys creating issue and policy influencing campaigns. We are looking for a candidate with a minimum of three years consultancy experience and a track record of delivering effective work for clients.

As an Account Manager, you will be a key member of the PLMR’s PR & Corporate Communications team – working directly with clients and journalists to run media campaigns. A deep understanding, passion and interest in the British media and UK political system as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Experience of the sectors PLMR operates in is beneficial.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Driving and implementing programmes of work for clients, including writing and distributing press releases
  • Developing news angles, stories and pitches to raise awareness of the client’s profile, products and services
  • Establishing, building and nurturing strong relationships with clients, key stakeholders, potential new business leads and media contacts (including journalists and industry spokespeople)
  • Providing leadership on accounts – steering the account team to maintain excellent and trusted client relationships, ensuring that the client feels well serviced, able to call for advice at any time, and maximising the opportunities for account development
  • Working with the Account Directors to ensure that client accounts are run efficiently and to budget
  • Closely monitoring political and media developments in relevant sectors and consider how this impacts your clients
  • Supporting clients with your reputation management skills
  • Managing and mentoring junior members of staff
  • Being involved in identifying new business opportunities, pitching for new business and developing proposals

Key Skills and Competencies

  • A minimum of three years experience in agency or in-house in communications and PR
  • Excellent written, presentation and verbal communications skills
  • An understanding and deep interest in the British media and political system. You will have started to build your network of journalists and have knowledge of editors across PLMR’s key sectors
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with challenging deadlines
  • A can-do attitude and a positive, supportive and engaging approach to work
