PLMR Group Media Snapshot: August 2024

August saw the conclusion of the Paris Olympics 2024, where Great Britain achieved a remarkable 14 Gold, 22 Silver and 29 Bronze medals, while closer to home, young people up and down the country celebrated their GCSE and A Level results. It was also the hottest day of the year, the first £1 coins to feature the image of Charles III entered circulation and of course, Oasis announced their much-awaited reunion tour.

PLMR Group has seen an equally busy month in which our ‘From the Frontline’ podcast heard from former Minister for Health & Secondary Care, Will Quince MP, to learn more about the UK Government’s approach to life sciences; and we hosted Health and Social Affairs Editor at the Sunday Express, Lucy Johnston, to share her thoughts on the most pressing social issues facing the UK and the role of journalists and communications consultants to campaign for change. Our Public Affairs team has also been hard at work preparing for party conference season.

Alongside this, we achieved a range of international, national, broadcast, trade and regional coverage for our clients. Read on to find out more about some of our media highlights for August 2024!

The Scotsman: Free virtual school trip launches to support greater access to art lessons across the UK

Client: Art UK

Sector: Education

PLMR proudly supports Art UK, an art education charity committed to democratising access to art by providing a free online home for every public art collection in the UK. Helping strengthen art education in classrooms, Art UK also has an engaging bank of teaching and learning resources to support its Superpower of Looking programme.

Through The Superpower of Looking, Art UK aims to equip every primary school pupil with essential visual literacy skills that will empower them to fulfil their potential and successfully navigate today’s image-saturated world. Bringing this programme to life, PLMR has been working closely alongside Art UK to develop The Superpower of Looking’s Art Adventure – a virtual visit, taking place on 2nd October, that will take pupils on an exciting journey to explore different artworks at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow, Scotland, and The New Art Gallery in Walsall, England.

As part of these preparations, PLMR engaged education trade media as well as local press across England and Scotland to raise awareness of this exciting free opportunity. While our PR strategy continues, the team has secured positive results so far, with coverage appearing in North Edinburgh News, Moray Lifestyle Magazine, The Scotsman, AngusWorld, The Southern Reporter, The Stornoway Gazette, Sevenoaks Chronicle, We Are South Devon, LondonWorld, Education and Public Sector Supplement and School House magazine. National World: Culture meets comfort in the heart of Stratford-Upon-Avon at The Arden Hotel and The Royal Shakespeare Company Theatre

Client: Eden Hotel Collection

Sector: Leisure and hospitality

To help promote the Eden Hotel Collection’s award-winning venues, PLMR Advent secured widespread coverage in August in a host of media outlets, sharing fantastic reviews of the group’s locations.

The Arden Hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon was given the thumbs up from The Sun’s travel team in its weekly travel pages, before National World followed suit with a review that featured in 12 regional titles across the UK. A review of Mallory Court’s award-winning restaurant, The Dining Room, under the guidance of recently-appointed Executive Head Chef, Keiron Stevens, also featured in the Observer series newspapers, ranging from Leamington to Solihull, to support local trade. Mallory Court’s Asian-inspired Sencha also received high praise for its “exceptional dishes” on “a culinary journey well worth taking” in a glowing review in the Leamington Observer.

This strategic coverage has helped to raise the profile of the venues even further and demonstrated their excellence to a wide audience.

Schools Week: How Labour can lead a recruitment and retention revolution

Client: Etio

Sector: Education

Etio is an organisation which reviews, evaluates, benchmarks and supports a range of education services in institutions all over the world to help elevate the quality of education for thousands of children, young people, and learners. As families and teachers prepared to return to school, PLMR pitched and secured a strategic thought leadership article in Schools Week for Etio’s UK Managing Director, Dr Gordon Carver.

The article shared Dr Carver’s thoughts about how Labour can ensure every school can recruit and retain inspiring teachers. As a specialist education partner, Etio has been working with governments internationally for 25 years and reaching school and education leaders is vital for Etio’s work, so achieving this strategic coverage in one of the leading sector titles was a great success in helping support the organisation’s goals.

BBC Radio Sussex: Promedica24 and its sponsorship of The Glamour Club

Client: Promedica24

Sector: Health and Social Care

Promedica24 is a live-in care provider, enabling over 34,000 people across Europe to live safely and well in the comfort of their own homes. The Promedica24 franchise network offers local communities across the UK an alternative to moving into a care home, supporting those who seek more independence to people requiring more advanced care. PLMR works closely with Promedica24 to raise the profile of the organisation and live-in care as a viable alternative to residential care homes.

PLMR supported Chris White-Smith, West Sussex Regional Partner at Promedica24, to secure an interview with BBC Radio Sussex. The opportunity was secured following PLMR’s outreach to local radio stations to promote Promedica24’s long-term sponsorship of The Glamour Club, a bi-monthly event in Worthing aimed at combatting loneliness. The interview showcased the positive impact that Promedica24 is having on the local community through its sponsorship of such charitable initiatives and also featured regular Glamour Club attendee, Flora Gritti.

This coverage was a great opportunity for Promedica24 to highlight the importance of loneliness awareness and the role that live-in care can play in combatting social isolation and allowed the provider to speak about its sector-leading experience to a wider regional audience.
