Over 100 business leaders from Suffolk heard directly about Labour’s plans for business and the wider economy when Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves MP, spoke at an exclusive business event in Ipswich on 29 February.

The invitation-only event was sponsored by PLMR Genesis, the East of England team for Top 50 UK PR agency PLMR Group, and was hosted by Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Ipswich, Jack Abbott.

The Shadow Chancellor told attendees a Labour government would focus on economic growth and bringing back stability and confidence to the UK economy. Rachel Reeves addressed a range of issues speaking to business leaders across a range of sector during the evening’s reception.

A PLMR Insights Paper – 2024: The Year of the Long Campaign – launched on 1 February examines the political landscape and gives an insight into the views and perspectives of voters as the UK heads into a General Election.

Tim Miller, Managing Director of PLMR Genesis said, “It was fantastic to have so many businesses from Suffolk at the event and hearing from the Shadow Chancellor in what will be a pivotal year for politics and the future direction of the country. We look forward to hosting more events in the future for the local business community.”

Jack Abbott, Labour and Co-operative parliamentary candidate for Ipswich, said, “I was delighted to welcome Rachel Reeves, Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer to Ipswich. I wanted to showcase the depth and breadth of talent we have here, so Rachel and I met with over 100 business leaders, some who run small, independent businesses in our town, others who lead large, multi-national organisations. It was a real statement of Labour’s intent and ambition for our town. Thank you to PLMR Genesis for sponsoring a hugely successful event.”
