International Women’s Day – the inspirations behind the women of PLMR Genesis

This year, the resonating theme to mark International Women’s Day is ‘inspire inclusion’, urging us to reflect on the remarkable figures who have shaped our journeys.

To honour the theme, the women of PLMR Genesis have explored the stories of individuals who have made a difference to their lives and shaped our paths both personally and professionally.

Chloe Shelcott – Account Director

Greta Gerwig would be my inspiration on International Women’s Day – for her impressive career journey as a leading female director in Hollywood, and for the empowering messages creatively weaved through her Blockbuster films. Greta’s adaption of Little Women (a favourite story of mine) and Barbie demonstrate the power in strong, female-led stories, inspiring everyone to tackle boundaries and become more than they believe.

Anna Rudd – Senior Digital Account Manager

Emma Grede is my inspiration! She is a British-born self-made businesswoman, entrepreneur and fashion designer. She is the CEO and co-founder of Good American, a founding partner of Skims, and co-founder of Safely, a planet-based cleaning company owned by Kris Jenner.

She is recognised for her impact in shaping inclusive fashion and fostering socially responsible decisions across diverse industries, working with some of the most well-known and successful businesspeople – despite her very humble beginnings in East London.

She celebrates and promotes the power of being a woman, body diversity and championing inclusivity whilst running multiple businesses, chairing a non-profit organisation and being a mother of 4 children. I believe she is a true inspiration to both men and women on International Women’s Day and every other day!

Laura Holland – Senior Digital Account Executive

The woman that stands out to me on International Women’s Day is Beyoncé who has not only carved her place in the music industry, but also an undeniable mark on countless lives. Over the years, she has shown that being true to oneself is a superpower, and her openness about her struggles, triumphs, and identity resonates with many, creating a connection that goes beyond the stage. Her anthems celebrate strength, independence, and self-love, encouraging women to embrace their unique qualities and pursue their dreams fearlessly.

Sophie Saunders – Senior Account Manager

Florence Given is my inspiration every day, particularly on International Women’s Day. Florence is a best-selling author, illustrator and feminist social activist with an award-winning podcast.

She has an incredible online presence and has worked to challenge oppressive attitudes toward women and their bodies, using her platform to raise awareness of issues related to sexuality, consent, race, and gender. Florence is an inspiration to women, encouraging them to embrace themselves, their passions, and ambitions by living ‘deliciously’.

Sophie King – Account Executive

This International Women’s Day, I want to celebrate my mum! She is the ultimate role model to me – kind, intelligent and devoted to the ones she loves. She puts her all into everything, and no matter what life throws at her, she stays strong and determined. If I grow to become half the person she is, I’ll consider life well done!

Ally Horridge – Digital Account Manager

Pippa Funnell MBE is a true inspiration to me! She’s a testament to skill and talent, transforming from an underdog to a legend in the equestrian world. In 2003, she became the first person to win the Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing (consecutive wins at Rolex Kentucky, Badminton and Burghley). It’s also pretty cool that my riding coach joined Pippa Funnell in the Team GB European Young Riders in 1987, right at the start of Pippa’s winning career!

I would highly recommend Pippa’s autobiography (even if you’re not ‘horsey’), it leaves you hugely inspired and feels as if you can take on the world.
