Preparations ramping up for historic sporting event

The world’s largest sporting event for blind and partially sighted athletes – the 2023 IBSA World Games – is coming to the UK for the first time in August, and PLMR Advent has been helping to raise its media profile across the UK and overseas.

The World Games will include around 1,250 blind and partially sighted athletes from 70 countries competing in 10 sports – three of which include men’s blind football, men’s and women’s goalball, and judo which are qualification tournaments for the 2024 Paralympic Games.

As part of a wider PR plan devised by PLMR Advent, team members have been interviewing, writing and selling-in compelling athlete stories which have achieved national coverage in titles such as the Metro, PA, and BBC Online, as well as facilitating broadcast interviews with the likes of Sky Sports and BBC Look North.

Our reach has extended across the pond too, as we have secured an interview slot on a national American radio show that is dedicated to blind and partially sighted people.
