Making plans for Nigel

A Worcestershire pub has made national headlines after PLMR Advent helped the landlord to promote his world-record attempt for the largest gathering of Nigels.

Latest data from the Office for National Statistics shows that during 2016 and 2020, no babies were given the name Nigel, prompting Nigel Smith, landlord of The Fleece Inn, to host his own Nigel Night event for the second time to revive the name.

Nigel Night set a world record of 434 namesakes in 2019, with 372 Nigels turning up for this year’s celebration.

PLMR Advent supported Nigel Night on behalf of its client, destination management organisation Shakespeare’s England, of which The Fleece Inn are members.

The event generated more than 50 pieces of national, regional and trade media coverage, ranging from Mail Online and Daily Mirror through to BBC Midlands Today and Morning Advertiser.
