East of England communications agency PLMR Genesis has been praised for providing “brilliant support” to mental health charity Suffolk Mind despite the challenges posed by the pandemic over the past year.
The team raised almost £1,000 in cash from events including our monthly charity lottery, Bake Off cake sales, Euro 2020 and Strictly sweepstakes, and a 100-mile walking challenge. PLMR Genesis also provided time and PR expertise worth £7,000 free of charge to support Suffolk Mind’s valuable work, which makes a difference to thousands of people every year.
A major highlight was to promote and engage with the public and our communities, helping Suffolk Mind launch their first mental health children’s book ‘Sammy the Sea Squirt’. With our support Suffolk Mind had a successful Crowdfunding campaign, resulting in over 8,000 copies given to primary school children across Suffolk.
The local charity works across the mental health continuum from wellbeing to ‘severe and enduring’ mental ill-health, providing support and information for everyone.
Jon Neal, Chief Executive of Suffolk Mind, said: “We’re so grateful to PLMR Genesis for their support and their brilliant efforts in fundraising nearly £1,000 and providing more than £7,000 worth of PR support.
“The value of the PR support in particular is really important to us, as it helped ensure the successful crowdfunding of our Sammy the Sea Squirt book which we were able to give to every Reception-aged child in Suffolk last year.
“We are always grateful to workplaces that make us their Charity of the Year and we’re keen to make sure there is an exchange of value – providing workplace wellbeing training and resources to employers that work with us.”
PLMR Genesis provides pro-bono support to a different local charity each year, donating its services free of charge to help promote a worthwhile cause.
The team has previously supported Ipswich based FIND (Families in Need), launching its website, social media and the highly successful FIND 50 £100,000 lifeline appeal to support the opening of a larger new food bank in Ipswich.
Emma Hart, Head of Business & Finance at PLMR Genesis, said: “We have been blown away by the support and enthusiasm our team has shown to support Suffolk Mind.
“The 24-hour 100-mile walking challenge was a major highlight, raising over £600 in a single day despite the July soaking we all received from Felixstowe to Flatford, as well as being able to support the incredible Sammy the Sea Squirt storybook campaign for young children.
“Every pound raised will make a massive difference to Suffolk Mind’s work and we look forward to supporting another local charity in the new 2022-23 year.”
