Advent helped Coventry University achieve national coverage around thought-provoking research into how the criminal justice system treats pregnant women in prison.

Researchers Rona Epstein and Geraldine Brown analysed the experiences of 22 pregnant women in prison following the deaths of two babies born to women in custody.

They have recommended pregnant women found guilty of minor crimes should be given non-custodial sentences.

Advent secured an exclusive story in The Observer around their research, and the story was later mentioned in Radio 4’s Thought of the Day from Rev Dr Michael Banner.
