PR Account Executive Harriet Davey has thrown herself into PR and agency life, achieving international coverage and getting to grips with digital services. The 22-year-old reflects on her first six months at Genesis and the Graduate Training Programme.
In an industry which thrives on fresh ideas and drive from new talent, the PLMR | Genesis Graduate Training Programme is paying strong dividends with Account Executive Harriet Davey marking her six-month milestone.
The 22-year-old has enjoyed a whirlwind year after graduating from the University of Birmingham in Theology and Religion with a six-month semester at Keio University in Tokyo.
Since joining us, Harriet has launched herself into our revamped graduate scheme which includes a PR and Digital Marketing Executive Training Programme. The 20 sessions cover media relations, social media, crisis communications, digital advertising and SEO.
She is benefitting from the recent merger with national communications agency PLMR and joined in the celebrations after Genesis was crowned regional PR Consultancy of the Year.
Harriet said: “I’ve learned so much during my first six months here. The time has flown by and I feel I’ve settled in really well.
“For me the most valuable aspect of the training programme was that each session was run by a different team member, giving me a huge variety of knowledge from people with widely different backgrounds. It was also the perfect way to get to know the PLMR | Genesis team.”
Harriet secured regional, national, and international coverage for a leisure and tourism client over the summer after helping to plan, manage and execute an integrated PR, social media and video strategy for a campaign.
Harriet said: “My clients are extremely varied and I’m excited to continue expanding my skillset and experiences. Some of my goals include writing and issuing more high-profile press releases and delving further into video editing, social media management and graphic design, as I’ve greatly enjoyed all of these.
“Everyone has been so forthcoming with information – the digital team even facilitated an additional tutorial session on Google Analytics after I expressed interest. It’s amazing to have such a wealth of knowledge from talented people all around me.
“The PLMR | Genesis team is so supportive and I know they’ll help me reach my goals.”
Harriet’s line manager Tim Miller, an Account Director, said: “We have a proven track record of recruiting graduates from a variety of disciplines and developing their skills and watching them accelerate their careers in such a fast-moving and creative industry.
“The PLMR | Genesis Graduate Training Programme is designed to provide a 360 tour of PR, marketing and digital – and Harriet has shown all the hallmarks of a future superstar. She has an incredible work ethic and attitude, already has a number of top achievements under her belt, and I know has learned so many skills already in such a short space of time.”
