Genesis walks 100 miles for mental health charity Suffolk Mind

Suffolk-based PR, digital and marketing agency Genesis has raised hundreds of pounds for its charity partner Suffolk Mind after completing a 24-hour 100-mile walking challenge.

From Flatford to Felixstowe, 18 members of Team G trekked across the region despite typical British rain and thunderstorms to cover 125 miles – or 264,600 steps – and raise over £600 for the mental health charity so far.

Emma Hart, head of business and finance, said: “It was wonderful to be able to support Suffolk Mind by taking part in their 100-mile challenge. Being outdoors, even in the pouring rain – in July – allows me to absorb our beautiful Suffolk countryside and all it has to offer, but also gives me the time and space for reflection.”

Since January, Genesis has been supporting the award-winning mental health charity Suffolk Mind. We helped the marketing and crowdfunding to get new children’s book ‘Sammy the Sea Squirt’, which promotes mental wellbeing through physical activity, into every Suffolk primary school this September.

Glenn Castle, senior designer, said: “I felt it was important to be a part of the charity challenge for Suffolk Mind. My family has recently experienced a bereavement through suicide, so I know that in supporting Suffolk Mind we are highlighting the pivotal work they do in talking about and taking care of our mental health.”

Rose Ling, senior account executive,  added: “The 100 miles for Suffolk Mind walk was brilliant. Most of the team got involved and to walk in person with some of the team when we haven’t seen each other a lot in the past 15 months was fantastic.

“Our partnership with Suffolk Mind is so important. Helping raise money and awareness for a brilliant charity will enable them to continue doing the amazing work they are doing.”

Genesis has more fundraising activities planned throughout the year including a virtual quiz and sweepstakes for the Euros, bake off and strictly.
