Advent Communications and Deeley Group celebrated their relationship – that has blossomed over the course of two decades – by supporting a local woodland charity, the Heart of England Forest.
Construction and development company, the Deeley Group, began working with Advent Communications just a few weeks after the PR and communications firm business was launched 20 years ago.
The two companies joined forces for a charitable event and, rather than planting positive news stories about the property firm, the Advent and Deeley team were planting trees that will form part of the Heart of England Forest at Sheriffs Lench Farm.
On a freezing cold day which included sleet, snow, wind, rain and the occasional bout of sunshine the 12-strong team planted 1,000 trees that will form part of the forest that will eventually stretch across 30,000 acres and will consist of 13 million trees.
Dr Chris Iddon, design and build co-ordinator at Deeley Construction, said: “As a company, we take immense pride in doing all we can for the community and also for ensuring we are as environmentally friendly as we possibly can be.
“We have expertise in delivering energy efficient homes and BREEAM rated education & industrial buildings – an industry standard for environmentally-friendly buildings – but taking part in a day like this is a reminder of how important it is to not only protect our environment but to actively improve it.
“It was a fantastic day and it was great to join forces with Advent who have worked with the Deeley Group for 20 years. We’d encourage other companies to look at getting involved with the Heart of England Forest as they offer excellent team building days whilst reducing the negative impact of your company’s carbon emissions.”
Lee Corden, Advent Communications director, added: “It was a really good team effort all round and everyone really got into the spirit of the day.
“We were offered the chance to stop when we got to 850 trees but we decided to push on and get to the 1,000 mark.
“Advent and Deeley have been working together for two decades now and joining together for this event underlined the fact that the relationship between the two companies goes further than business.”
Stephen Coffey, head forester, said: “We were delighted to welcome a small, but mighty team of Deeley Group and Advent Communications corporate volunteers to the Forest, on what was a rather chilly and blustery day.
“Deeley Group are the first developer to come and take part in a corporate tree planting day at the Heart of England Forest and, with the planting of an incredible 1,000 trees in just one day, we couldn’t have asked for more! We look forward to welcoming both companies back again soon.”
