Digging in to build Heart of England Forest’s profile

A project which saw Advent working with forest charity the Heart of England has harvested widespread PR coverage.

Advent was appointed to help raise awareness of the charity’s work within the Midlands region and to encourage local businesses to get involved and support the initiative.

The Heart of England Forest is a hugely interesting project in many different ways – and promises to be so for generations to come.

Established in 2003 by the late publishing mogul Felix Dennis, his vision was to create a new woodland stretching across Worcestershire and Warwickshire.

Dennis founded the charity with the long-term aim of planting three million trees which will make up for the loss of the Forest of Arden.

The three month project has seen the Advent team adopt a range of media services, including generating PR coverage about companies who have committed to supporting the Forest as part of their corporate social responsibility strategy, along with announcing the appointment of veteran newscaster and journalist, Jon Snow, as chair of the charity.

Each of the stories have helped us score coverage for the charity across a range of regional publications stretching from Birmingham to Evesham, including the Birmingham Mail and Worcester News, through to the Solihull Observer and Stratford Herald.

We have also had pick up from a multitude of on-line news sites including The Business Desk, Midlands Business News as well as regional magazines such as Cotswold Life.

A highlight was also securing radio coverage with BBC Coventry and Warwickshire for a feature interview with Jon Snow.

The channel – which attracts 85,000 weekly listeners – interviewed Snow during its breakfast show, where he spoke of how the forest will be a ‘lung’ for the West Midlands which will benefit businesses and the public for hundreds of years.

Advent also assisted the Heart of England Forest with organising a business reception, which took place at Dennis’ estate in Dorsington, Warwickshire, and was hosted by Snow.

Using the vast network of connections the team has made in the region and beyond, Advent helped to attract no less than 40 senior business leaders to the event.

So if you haven’t read or heard about the charity’s vision and work (and perhaps have been living under a rock), check out www.heartofenglandforest.com to find out more and how to get involved!
