PLMR in Charity Football Match

Team members from PLMR took part in the PlayFC 6-a-side tournament at West Ham’s Upton Park Stadium on Wednesday 9th June.

The football was followed by a fundraising auction and dinner held in the West Ham’s Legends Suite, with a total of [insert figure] being raised for the One to One Children’s Fund. The money will go towards running life skills programmes in impoverished regions such as Rustenberg in South Africa, where the England World Cup squad was based.

Teams taking part in the event also received coaching tips from a series of football legends such as former England and Chelsea goalkeeper Peter Bonetti. Other former stars taking part included Phil Babb (ex Liverpool and Sunderland), Jason McAteer (ex Liverpool and Bolton Wanderers) and Steve Claridge (ex Portsmouth and Millwall, now a pundit at BBC Radio 5 Live).

Former Italian World Cup referee Pierluigi Collina – described by David Beckham as “the best referee in the world” – took charge of the tournament’s final game.

PLMR’s Managing Director Kevin Craig said:

“Although we didn’t win the tournament this time it was a great opportunity not only to play football in a Premier League stadium and team build, but above all to raise cash for a really worthwhile charity. PLMR already donates 5 per cent of its profits to charitable causes every year and events like this are a chance to give something back. It was wonderful to see legends like Peter Bonetti donate their time and get stuck in too.”
